Infectious Control Nurse is responsible for the surveillance and reporting of nosocomial infections,
investigation of infection or clusters of infections as warranted, microbiological monitoring of the healthcare environment and remediation as warranted, targeted education, consultation, research, administration and continued professional development.
Requirements:Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Gathering and analyzing infection data to make evidence-based decisions.
- Educating medical and public health professionals within Purple Shield on infection prevention protocols to facilitate emergency preparedness.
- Isolating and treating infected individuals to contain the spread of infectious diseases.
- Assisting with the development of action plans in case of an outbreak within Purple Shield’s organization to minimize the potentially devastating impact.
- Collaborating with government agencies such as the CDC to ensure that infection control practices are implemented and enforced.
- Studying pathogens to determine origin in order to prevent future outbreaks.
- Developing a system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all staff and potential facilities, while following accepted National standards.
- Develop and implement written policies and procedures for infection control.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to maintain current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Education and Experience:
- RN required
