Title: Industrial Technician (Apprentice)

Reports To: General Manager

Summary of Position:

Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, controls and computer systems on a company- wide basis in a heavy industrial environment, for all MRFP locations. Systems include; desktop PC’s, wireless and wired networks, Programable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), basic motor controls, sensors and laser scanners, optimizers and various software platforms.
This is a hands-on maintenance position that, in addition to IT and industrial controls knowledge, requires operating various machines and learning the basics of hardwood lumber manufacturing.

Apprentice position that will train to become proficient in the following areas:

• Understands and appreciates how electrical and electronic controls and automation can present unique safety challenges, and always puts safety above all other considerations.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems including: o Motor start/stop circuits. o Testing and replacing 3 phase, 480V motors. o 100VAC and 480VAC wiring.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic control systems including: o Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s). o Electronic sensors and devices such a limit switches, photo-eyes, lasers. o Calibration of various laser based scanning and optimization systems.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems including: o Windows 10 based office PC’s. o Windows 7 based machine optimizer computers. o Basic wired, Level I networks, and wireless bridges and access points. o CCTV video and Security Systems. o VOIP phone systems.
• Maintains and provides support for various company software systems including: o Computer and cloud-based log and lumber inventory systems. o Companywide cloud-based storage. o Email and basic Office 365 user support. o Computer peripherals such as printers, scanners and barcode readers. o Responsible for routine backups, virus scanning, OS upgrades and basic PC cleanup.
• Able to operate various machines and understands the basics of hardwood manufacturing: o Understand basic hardwood lumber grading. o Capable of operating machines after repairs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $17.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Macon, NC 27551: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
• Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

• 25% (Preferred)
