Facility Maintenance Technician Job Description

Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary: Under minimal supervision perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of location’s business goals and objections. Maintain and improve facilities while being part of the OTR Team. Follow all site health and safety regulations and a strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production and plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, test, and makes adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines, documentation, and procedures.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • If authorized, may purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors to perform required duties.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification or diploma in mechanics or relevant discipline is a plus.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Problem Solving / Analysis and critical thinking
  • Able to physically stand, bend squat, and lift minimum of 50 pounds
  • Excellent attendance
  • Forklift Certification with 90 days of job entry
  • Multi-tasking and organized
  • Able to maintain a dependable and flexible work schedule
  • Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

Reports To: Plant Manager

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demand

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to squat. Must be able to bend at the knees, and flexible enough to work in awkward positions.
  • Must be able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
  • Must be able tolerate fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
  • Must be able to work with hands and have the manual dexterity to use misc. hand tools (i.e. hammer, screwdriver etc.).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
