The work schedule is 40 hours per week.


HVAC MECHANIC

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess oil burner tech certificate, a CFC license; or must be able to obtain within one year.
  • Five years experience in a large commercial/industrial setting; maintenance and repair of large steam and hot water systems fired by oil or gas.
  • Experience in maintenance, repair, and/or installation of pneumatic, electric, electronic controls, chillers, pumps, piping, boilers, and univents.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from building plans and schematics.
  • Pipe fitter license and/or Refrigeration license desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing and refrigeration trades.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable codes and regulations controlling the trade.
  • Drivers license and safe driving record.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance HVAC and the indirect supervision

of the Director of Facilities.


JOB GOAL:
To operate and maintain all school facilities with the best possible environment conducive to the educational process, in safety, cleanliness, and comfort.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform duties necessary from written work requests or verbal instructions.
  • Work independently, with another HVAC Mechanic, or with mechanics in other trades as directed or needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as well as scheduled and emergency repairs as directed.
  • Maintain licenses/certificates as required by state and local agencies for the position.
  • Perform a broad range of duties related to the maintenance of HVAC with flexible hours and under adverse conditions. These duties may require climbing, working on rooftops, or in crawl spaces.
  • Receive and maintain asbestos maintenance training.
  • Assist the plumbing or building maintenance trades when necessary.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance records and submit job estimates, timelines, or material lists as required.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities in keeping with the scope of his/her job as assigned by the Lead HVAC or Director of Facilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a twelve month assignment.

SALARY: Per Contract.
