POSITION SUMMARY:
The HR Specialist is responsible for the effective operation and implementation of all elements related to new employee onboarding. The HR Specialist is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding service to new employees and all staff they interact with. They are a vital member of the YMCA human resources team and a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission and core values. They are accountable for knowing and properly executing all YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate execution of all parts of the onboarding process, including but not limited to candidate enrollment, pre-employment screenings, E-verify, personnel documentation, and new employee activation
- Acts as liaison with other organizational entities, such as Finance, IT, and the Business Center, on new employee enrollment into programs, software, and certain benefits
- Assist with payroll and other personnel reports
- Maintain new employee personnel records and assist with data maintenance
- Consistently offer a positive internal and external customer service experience
- Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision
- Interact professionally with employees, members, program participants, volunteers, and the community while always modeling the YMCA’s voice and core values
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for collaboration with other individuals and departments
- Assist association hiring managers to effectively lead new employees through hiring and onboarding processes
- Utilize strong verbal and written skills
- Incorporate strong customer service skills when working with staff and supervisors
- Perform office work as needed such as filing, copying, answering phones, maintaining human resources group email, and record keeping
- Be responsible for and perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s Degree in a related field is preferred or comparable experience
- Experience in an office environment and data entry
- Ability to learn or some experience with operating Human Resources information software, such as Paycom.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel
- Organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Leader certification within 60 days of hire.
