Summary:
The HR Manager role is to support and implement all aspects of human resources. Provide human resources leadership and mentorship for talent acquisition and retention, employee engagement and experience, learning and development, performance management, total rewards, and labor relations. Partner with plant leadership to ensure HR initiatives are aligned with divisional goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
- Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
- Develop, implement, and assess systems, metrics and processes that address and support the achievement of the division’s strategic needs and business goals.
- Maintain visibility and accessibility to all team members.
- Plan, prioritize, lead, and control human resources activities. Participate in development department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Drive the alignment and execution of key people strategies that attract, train, and retain employees.
- Supervise the talent acquisition process for hourly and salaried hires (recruiting, new hire on-boarding, and orientation).
- Promote retention, employee engagement and culture development programs based on current needs, and engagement and culture survey results.
- Develop and lead all aspects of training and development initiatives.
- Connect with management on appropriate disciplinary or other corrective techniques to assist them in conduct and performance problems and disciplinary issues.
- Conduct suspension and termination meetings with team members.
- Investigate and evaluate union complaints, prepare responses to requests, complaints, and/or grievances as appropriate.
- Proactively maintain collaborative relationship with union leaders.
- Participate and support the Company/Union negotiation process.
- Keep leadership abreast of significant issues or developments as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment practices.
- Understand and follow all current plant policies and procedures. Update when necessary and communicate accordingly throughout the Plant.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise HR team members and the daily functions of the HR department. Carries out managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, procedures, practices, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
- Seven (7) years’ professional human resources experience, OR equivalent combination of related post graduate education and experience required.
- Intermediate digital literacy in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
- Previous Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- HR supervisory experience required.
- Labor relations experience preferred.
- HR certification through HRCI or SHRM preferred.
- Ability to work outside traditional hours to serve the needs of our internal and external customers.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
