Rowman & Littlefield is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager that will manage a wide range of tasks across all Human Resources functions to support our staff at the company headquarters, located in Lanham, MD. Qualified candidates will be proactive, well-organized, and flexible and must have a minimum of three years of experience working in a Human Resources position. Bi-weekly travel to our Blue Ridge Summit, PA distribution center is required, and other travel may be required on an infrequent basis.
Responsibilities
- As the main point of contact for our Lanham, MD location, the HR Manager will support employees and managers at all levels to advise, interpret, and communicate Company programs, policies, and initiatives.
- Research and compare compensation and benefits programs and make recommendations for updates or improvements where necessary to keep the Company’s packages competitive and effective. Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in compensation and benefits administration.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance. Ensure all reporting requirements are met.
- Coordinate HRIS activities (currently ADP Workforce Now) to maintain effective process and functionality.
- Assist the Sr. HR Manager in the daily administration of other HR functions as assigned, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with current policies and objectives.
- Performs other HR duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Leadership Studies, or Business Administration; and/or equivalent years’ experience and training with HR certifications such as CCP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CBP
- A minimum of three years of experience in human resource management.
- Proficiency in productivity software and HRIS systems, such as Microsoft Office and ADP Workforce Now.
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail in all practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret all applicable laws and recommend and formulate changes necessary to comply.
- Strong interest in project development, leadership, interpersonal relationship building, training, process implementation.
