SUMMARY
The HR Generalist is responsible for implementing human resources programs by providing human resources services. These may include recruiting and staffing of assigned employee groups, training and development, employee or labor relations, performance review management, and compliance reporting analytics for decision making. May be assigned specific employee groups or specific HR functional area(s). Proactively promotes The McWane Way principals, values, and behaviors and lives the Compass Culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
- Serve as customer service point of contact for assigned employee group or location.
- Maintain complete confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the position.
- Provide customer service in answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical guidance to internal and external customers.
- Design and deliver training programs.
- Maintain record and data integrity of training programs.
- Actively use the recruitment system (iCIMS) to source and identify, screen, interview, and select candidates.
- Attend job fairs, school career fairs, and other talent sourcing opportunities.
- Support the entire employee lifecycle from preemployment screening through termination.
- Interpret and explain human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
- Actively use the HRIS system (UKG) for new hire, termination, and transactional changes in between, and reporting.
- Develop BI reporting and Dashboards within the HRIS system (UKG) for use in data analysis, decision making, and compliance reporting.
- Assist in New Employee Orientation to disseminate general Company policy and procedure information, benefit information, and foster a positive demeanor toward Company goals.
- Manage the employee discipline program, as assigned, ensuring disciplines are issued within collectively bargained agreements parameters.
- Manage the salaried performance review system from goal establishment, to mid-year, and year-end reviews.
- Conduct investigations on employee complaints, concerns, and/or grievances.
- Gather, analyze, and report data to support decision making, compliance reporting, and metric development.
- Maintain compliance with all federal employment laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with HR team to build and implement team member engagement initiatives.
- Participate in outreach and workforce development activities.
- Maintain hard copy personnel files and records in accordance with state and federal requirements and corporate guidelines and records retention policy.
- Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
- Provide managers and supervisors with information and/or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, and documentation of performance issues.
- Build and maintain good working relationships within the department and across departments.
- Design, develop, and deliver training by working with subject matter experts, end-users, and supervision to identify training strategies and develop results.
- Be highly visible and accessible to all employees.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of internal communications.
- Perform other duties as specified by the HR Manager/Director.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- Three (3) years of human resources experience required; heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
- Work within a team environment.
- Must possess strong and effective oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Digital literacy in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
- Certification through SHRM or HRCI preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Work Environment:
The work environment is a typical office setting within a heavy manufacturing environment. As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
