Job Summary:
Responsible for management of efficient and effective HR administration and continuous improvement and providing hands-on support as needed. This position works at the corporate office to provide HR support for all company locations and divisions. The goals of the HR department are a positive customer experience, high associate morale, Company profitability, legal compliance, and positive reputation in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These include the following and others may be assigned.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of our customers by providing a positive customer experience.
- Effectively supervise, mentor, train, and hold accountable Human Resource team members.
- For all HR responsibilities ensure effective and efficient processes, maximize system capabilities, monitor trends and metrics, maintain legal compliance, and perform routine tasks in support of the HR team as needed. HR responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting and onboarding, benefits, payroll/time and attendance, performance management, training, safety, workers compensation, DOT/FMCSA, and fun and recognition.
- Find and lead HR continuous improvement and cost saving projects.
- Explain, maintain, and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and management.
- Ensure SOPs are created, maintained, organized, and followed for all HR tasks.
- In addition to above:Recruiting and Onboarding: Ensure open positions are filled timely with high quality candidates, implement creative sourcing solutions, manage FCRA process, assist internal candidates with development for desired positions, assist with maintenance of accurate job descriptions, monitor recruiting within budgeted number of positions, and complete wage surveys.
o Benefits: Ensure associates are aware of their excellent benefitsand all the benefit features, ACA administration, and monitor benefits arrears/collect owed premiums.
- Payroll/Time and Attendance: Serve as first back up for payroll processing, administer FMLA and leaves of absence, create custom reports, and administer Written Warnings for Attendance Counts.
- Performance Management: Assist and guide managers with effective goal setting/discipline/recognition, administer unemployment activities, perform Exit Interviews and act on feedback as appropriate, administer the performance review process including informing managers of potential raises per budget guidelines, and assist with termination meetings as needed.
- Training: Oversee administration of Company LMS, assist with associate training and development plans, and pay training related invoices.
- Safety and Workers Compensation: Assist with administration of workers compensation claims and actively participate in Corporate Safety Committee and Captive insurance activities.
- DOT/FMCSA: Monitor FMCSA activity and scores and serve as liaison between HR, fleet division, and company-wide management regarding DOT/FMCSA.
- Keep up-to-date on industry trends and employment laws.
- Attend and participate in meetings as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring and retention, performance management, and training and development.
- Directly supervises Human Resources team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of broad range of Human Resource concepts/processes and varying federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines and easily adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, supervision, leadership, customer service, judgment, assertiveness, flexibility, organization, prioritization, decision making, negotiation, conflict management, stress management, accuracy, presentation, delegation, professional business writing, and problem solving skills.

- Ability to appropriately identify and adapt to serving as a leader, mentor, partner, or support to the HR team members dependent upon the goal, activity, project, or situation.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of associates and present information in an easy to understand manner.
- General business acumen and ability to effectively recognize and balance the needs of the company with the needs of associates.
- Maintain professional image as a representative of the company.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, with or without a calculator.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, ADP, and other HR-related systems.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Certifications and/or Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- HRCI or SHRM certification preferred
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or
- Five years of HR Management experience; or
- Equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Experience in a multi-location, multi-state environment highly desired.
