ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains proper and efficient operation of all pasteurizing, blending, separating, and product transfer systems.

  • Follows company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation during processing to include: SQF, Master Sanitation, Product Traceability, HACCP, Vitamin Fortification, and other documents as needed.
  • Records all necessary documentation on HTST and CIP recording charts to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Blends, mixes, and prepares products for production.
  • Works closely with production supervisors to insure timely delivery of product to minimize downtime on fillers.
  • Ability to deliver product to fillers to avoid downtime on production lines is a Key Performance Indicator for this position.
  • Works closely with the plant laboratory to insure products are formulated and tested to meet plant requirements.
  • Responsible for taking and documenting all product samples to the lab as necessary.
  • Performs all necessary CIP and cleaning of all tanks, line circuits, and associated equipment.
  • Monitors and documents chemical concentrations to insure proper cleaning of all equipment.
  • Works closely with Milk Receivers to insure proper product rotation of raw milk inventory.
  • Assists in dumping reprocess on a daily basis and maintains documentation.
  • Performs regular gasket replacement and valve inspections as directed by supervision.
  • Minimizes product loss at all times.
  • This is an active position that requires constant focus and activity. Operators are involved in pasteurizing, blending, or cleaning continuously.
  • Attends monthly Safety meetings and completes all necessary training as required.
  • Follows proper safety procedures while on duty.
  • Completes a minimum of 2 ‘LIT’ modules each month.

  • Performs other dairy duties as assigned by supervision to meet business needs. This may require work in other areas of the plant. Remains at work station until finished or relieved.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Dairy experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read chemical labels and follow safe handling procedures for food grade products.
  • Ability to accurately record data.
  • Computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving is required.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations required.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen.

· Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds.

· Must be able to work in a wet environment. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Exposure to nut allergens.

· Manual and vehicular transfer of materials within production areas.

· Position requires frequent lifting, reaching, climbing, pulling, stooping, bending, and kneeling.

· Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings.
