HTST Operator Job at Wisconsin Whey Protein
Summary:
The HTST operator controls the HTST system for the cheese make. This person will be able to operate and maintain the system for daily production. HTST operator will be able to accurately take samples and record the data for daily operation. He or she ensures that; all documentation is timely, accurate and complete, that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), sanitation requirements and performance measures are tracked and met. All must be done with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have knowledge of and understand all equipment involved in pasteurizing, standardizing raw milk, and operating the whey system.
- Have ability to learn to operate the ultra-filtration system as well as the bulk starter system.
- Knowledge of sampling equipment and sample handling and storage.
- Documents all systems and stages as necessary.
- Maintain the HTST room and whey room by sanitary measure to meet Federal and State regulations and practice quality control of all products.
- Accurately run all tests necessary for quality control, sight, smell, taste.
- Check and document product temperatures.
- Report and follow up on all repairs of equipment as needed.
- Comply with all safe quality foods (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) and allergen awareness standards.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies
- The operator will use equipment and tools properly and safely
- Perform all other assignments as required.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Must have or be able to obtain HTST certification.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and weekends.
- Must be able to verbally communicate, understand and write in the English language.
- Consistent and punctual attendance required.
- Pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- The employee will be required to operate a computer and keyboard; have visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech; manual dexterity to operate a telephone.
- Occasionally lift, up to 40 pounds, horizontally and vertically, bend and stoop.
- The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate handles or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
