WhistlePig Whiskey is looking for an HR Generalist & Benefits Boss to join our team as a self-starter, an excellent communicator and builder of relationships at all levels, and ready to help us level up in all things. With a heavy focus on managing the company?s various benefits programs but also as an HR Swiss Army knife, this role will be a key contributor to the success and future growth of our team and organization.


Job Summary: Human Resources Generalist - reports to HR Director


Benefits Programs Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and our Well-Rounded wellness initiative - owning the process from enrollment to offboarding

  • Work with external vendors and brokers to ensure cost-effective and comprehensive benefits packages

  • Monitor and analyze benefit utilization and trends to optimize the program and ensure competitive offerings

  • Own the open enrollment process, partnering with the rest of the HR team for cross-company support and delivery

  • Assist employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes, including appealing decisions made by insurance companies, resolving disputes, and solving problems within benefits and compensation programs, in partnership with our benefits provider

  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA. Respond to unemployment insurance claims

  • Keep up-to-date on benefits regulations and compliance, and ensure timely and accurate reporting and documentation

  • Support and educate employees on benefits offerings and enrollment processes, and serve as a resource for benefit-related questions and issues

Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle recruiting and hiring new employees for assigned employee client group, using exceptional people skills and intuition to find the perfect fit for our unique culture

  • Work with assigned department leaders to interpret and administer company policies and procedures, acting as a liaison between employees and management, helping to resolve any issues or concerns in a timely and respectful manner

  • Participate in and support Safety Manager investigations of workplace injuries, ensuring accurate and timely completion of necessary documentation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements

  • Coordinate and deliver required employee and manager trainings

  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives, trainings, and wellness programs

  • Serve as a backup for payroll processing and coordinating reporting

  • Keep up-to-date on HR trends and best practices, and ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws

Location
This is a hybrid role, with on-site presence at our worksite offices in Middlebury or Shoreham, VT required some days, and the flexibility to work from home on the others. For those days, you?ll need great wifi and cell service (for which we offer a monthly reimbursement). Occasional travel for onboarding, training, on-site visits, and offsite meetings may be required.
