Reporting to the Regional Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing HR support to the plant leadership team and employees at the Quakertown, PA site. The HR Generalist provides guidance and consultative support to business leaders and promotes positive employee relations including; delivering training; ensuring compliance; interpreting policies and procedures; proactive coaching and counseling of managers and employees; conducting investigations, and coaching for performance improvement. In addition, the HR Generalist will act as a change leader for developing and implementing new HR initiatives that support the needs of the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

Drives a culture of positive employee relations:

  • Ensures high visibility to all shifts and departments on a routine schedule and serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues and questions.
  • Counsels and advises employees and managers regarding people, policies, workforce, organization and employee issues.
  • Proactively engages with and builds relationships with employees at all levels. Mediates employee concerns and/or complaints.
  • Conducts thorough and complete investigations into company guideline violations, and make recommendations to management on how to resolve potential employee relations issues.
  • Coordinates employee recognition activities and events.
  • Connects with employees on a regular cadence on the plant floor.

Facilitates the selection, retention, and evaluation of a high-performing, high-potential workforce:

  • Partners with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition Team to ensure successful selection and onboarding of top talent.
  • Supports annual performance and merit review process.
  • Coaches managers on writing and conducting effective performance reviews.
  • Facilitates Talent Review and Succession Planning Process with site leadership teams.
  • Facilitates training on employee development, coaching, and other management and leadership topics.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive demeanor toward organizational objectives.
  • Partners with managers on addressing performance issues and utilization of the corrective action process.

Fosters a continuous improvement mindset:

  • Use process-oriented thinking to understand, lead and implement moderately complex HR-related projects and see them through to completion.
  • Drive continuous improvement in human resource efforts by applying best practices.
  • Assist plant leadership with improving employee engagement.
  • Be a change agent – challenge old ways of doing business and suggest and/or implement breakthrough improvements, while motivating employees to accept process changes and take ownership.

Ensure compliance with Federal State and Local requirements:

  • Administer the site Affirmative Action Program.
  • Assist with administration of company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements.
  • Conduct ongoing information and training sessions as required.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with human resource compliance including the support of policy/handbook updates, maintaining employee files and documents, reporting, auditing accuracy of personnel data, administering progression increases, as well as other daily tasks.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience as HR Generalist or Coordinator preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability in multitasking, working at a high pace, and organizing and prioritizing work.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong project leadership skills.
  • Knowledgeable on employment laws, HR procedures and practices.
  • Knowledgeable on function-specific activities, such as recruitment and organizational development.
  • HR PeopleSoft knowledge a plus. Skilled in running reports, analyzing data and report development.
  • Ability and passion to build relationships and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strength in listening to clients, understanding business concerns and taking action to solve problems.
  • Strong project leadership skills - Good strategic thinker with the ability to take moderately complex projects and see them through completion.
  • Ability to learn and support other key HR systems, such as Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Recruiting).
