Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is looking for a Human Resource Data Analyst to join our Human Resources Team in Boston. In this new position, you will be responsible for understanding the various business intelligence needs of our HR business stakeholders and using your technical data skills to create data visualizations, reports and other data solutions.

Data

  • As an early-stage business, contribute to the structure, compilation, governance, and delivery of global HR data
  • Design, develop, maintain and monitor data solutions with a focus on data definitions, data quality and auditing
  • Create and automate repeatable data solutions, such as reports & visualizations, using SQL, PowerBI, Excel & other tools
  • Perform proactive diagnostic analysis on key HR measures, trends, and hot spots to surface meaningful, actionable insights and recommendations to HR and other leaders
  • Collaborate with HR and IT resources to translate business/data needs into HRMS (Human Resource Management System) system requirements

Compensation

  • Conduct research and analysis on market compensation practices
  • Support annual compensation review process, through reporting and analysis
  • Complete compensation modeling and analysis as needed
  • Collaborate with other disciplines such as Finance, Legal, Payroll and HR Operations
  • Deliver Monthly and Quarterly budget feeds to Finance

General

  • Collaborate with HR and business stakeholders to understand their data needs
  • Assist the global HR team with solutions to organize and complete existing HR data and information
  • Design, develop and deliver HR reports to provide business insights using BI tools and visualizations
  • Partner with the global HR team to determine the best way to deliver data to users
  • Ensure data integrity through quality processes and audit focus
  • Become subject matter expert (SME) on custom built HRMS and other data tools
  • Contribute to the HRMS feature requirement gathering process and associated testing
  • Apply research methods in global employment regulations, benefit practices and other projects
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, communications and/or presentation materials for compensation, benefits, and other special projects
  • Collaborate with HRMS and HR Ops team to improve HR data and associated processes

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A well-developed sense of discretion and maturity in order to work with highly confidential global HR data
  • Genuine excitement and passion for analyzing data and converting them into the insights that drive business decisions
  • A high level of organization and incredible attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, present and explain data
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
  • Create intuitive data visualizations utilizing relevant software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to present information in a logical, straightforward and visually pleasing manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work both in a team and independently
  • A customer-service oriented approach to everything you do
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training in computer science, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
  • Two to five years of experience in data analytics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Experience in data modeling
