Human Resources Assistant

The Hardinge HR Department has an opportunity for someone pursuing a career in Human Resources. This position will be responsible for performing HR-related duties in a busy HR office to support the Elmira, NY facility. This position will assist with carrying out programs and administrative functions while providing regional recruitment support for all US sites. The requirements for this position that will report to the HR Director are as follows:

EDUCATION:

HS diploma or equivalent required. Pursuing a BS in Business, Human Resources or related field preferred.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Some paid work experience preferred, volunteer experience will be considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and implement improvements within area of responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualified candidate will be resourceful and driven. The highest degree of ethics and integrity is required. Must have excellent communication skills and business acumen. The preferred candidate will be a problem solver, a highly motivated self-starter, and can collaborate on team projects.


REPORTS TO: HR Director

LOCATION: Elmira, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the HR team in recruitment effort for non-exempt personnel and temporary employees; prepares new-employee orientation packets; and assists with website maintenance and other job advertisements, as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Government Affairs with grant administration documentation.
  • Gathering supporting documentation for all funding streams to include Apprenticeship, OJT, and Grants.
  • Maintains job files and applicant records for compliance with affirmative action reporting.
  • Maintains personnel files for all employees and assists in preparing files for electronic conversion by file purging, etc.
  • Participates in site recruitment meetings, HR staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Support the Hardinge Social Committee executing company events, post communications, etc.
