The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Assistant. The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of support activities, from coordinating HR meetings to maintaining records and managing our job postings. This position will play an integral role in the recruitment and on-boarding processes. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and will be able to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the day-to-day administrative functions of the Human Resources Department, including maintaining up-to-date personnel records, HRIS data entry, processing invoices, arranging travel logistics, and processing expense reimbursements. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding processes for GCFA and its constituents. Maintains and tracks requisitions in Applicant Tracking System. Sources candidates for open positions. Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and/or conducting interviews for internal and external positions. Handles pre-employment screens and paperwork, as well as employment background checks. Conduct employee onboarding process. Prepare weekly update on current requisitions.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up to date HRIS data. Assist in payroll processing and data changes on an as needed basis for required entities.
- Coordinate Human Resources meetings, including drafting agendas, recording minutes, and updating policies and procedures that are approved as part of the meeting process.
- Provide assistance to the Benefits Department in support of all benefits provided for both active and retired employees.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, or related field, is required, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Preferably 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources.
- Knowledge of HR principles and disciplines, as well as state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with Paycom HRIS software is highly desirable.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn UMC polity and organizational structure is essential. UMC Member is preferred.
