Job Summary:

The Housekeeper/Floor Technician is responsible for ensuring that the department cleans and delivers a quality service, maintains the hospital and the floors in a safe, sanitary, attractive, and orderly fashion. The Housekeeper/Floor Technician promotes the mission of Lake Butler Hospital to maintain a safe and clean environment. Also adhering to AHCA, OSHA, and CMS guidelines as directed by the Director of Environmental Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Depending on placement within the departments, will perform the duties of a housekeeper, janitor, and laundry tech.
  • Perform all assigned tasks effectively, in a responsible team environment.
  • Among other duties, performs routine cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning of restrooms, hallways, and associated locations. Along with scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing of all floors.
  • Collects office, patient, biohazard trash, and soiled linen from receptacles and disposes of them in the appropriate locations.
  • Must complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Utilizes appropriate chemicals and supplies according to the manufacture direction, policy, and procedure.
  • Uses and maintains equipment properly.
  • Assists visitors with directions and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Follows all Infection Control practices, and hospital wide policies and procedures including biohazard waste handling, hand washing techniques, and standard or isolation requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and neat cart, station, closet, and equipment storage area.
  • Operates and maintains cleaning equipment.
  • Maintains quality standard while performing job duties.
  • Workdays, evenings, nights, and weekend shifts as assigned with little to no supervision.
  • Attends staff meeting and in-service training as scheduled.
  • Ensure positive guest relations by demonstrating a welcoming and helpful attitude to all patients, visitors, and coworkers. Supports the philosophy, missions, and goals of Lake Butler Hospital.
  • Functions as an effective team member by maintaining positive intra and interdepartmental relationships.

General Duties:

  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information in compliance with HIPAA policies
  • Attends and or completes mandatory annual education to include, but not limited to infection control, safety, risk management, etc.
  • Complies with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the overall success of Lake Butler Hospital by performing all other duties as assigned.
  • Serves on committees as requested by Administration.
  • Always presents a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Wears identification while on duty.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively with other members of a team.
  • Always represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Meets hospital attendance standards.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and consistency by clocking in/out appropriately.
  • Takes part in activities to promote the objectives and goals of LBH.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
  • Complies with all organization policies and standards regarding ethical business practices.
  • Attends regular staff meetings.
  • Keeps abreast of organizational changes and information by reading documents provided, checking individual company emails, etc., of a weekly basis.
Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma preferred.

Experience: Public housekeeping work experience preferred.

Skills: Basic housekeeping skills and floor care.

Knowledge: Basic principles of service and sanitation. Knowledge of use of equipment and tools used for floor maintenance.

Abilities: Literacy skills, follow instructions, and the ability to present information in a one on one or small group situation. Ability to perform under pressure when confronted with an emergency.

OSHA Category: Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.

Physical Requirements:
