Hospital Plumbing Technician Job at Vanguard Resources Inc.
Vanguard Resources, an Industry-Leading Facilities Management Company, in operation 25 years, (STILL family owned & operated), is actively recruiting for a Full-time, skilled Healthcare Plumber for a Hospital located in Brownsville, Texas.
Overview:
- Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform work as required. The position of the Plumbing Service Technician is to deliver exceptional Plumbing service and maintenance on commercial plumbing systems under the direction of the Operations Manager to ensure all work is performed correctly.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains, repairs and installs plumbing and related fixtures and components.
- Repairs piping of various size and type.
- Checks safety equipment and replaces components such as washers, gaskets and filters.
- Inspects, repairs or replaces pumps, valves and boiler systems.
- Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to Plumbing Code Requirements and reports back to Manager.
- Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
- Assemble and install valves and fittings.
- Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls.
- Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners.
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim.
- Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks.
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes.
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements.
- Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
- Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts and supplies.
Requirements:
- Journeyman, or Master Plumber.
- Knowledge of the fundamental operational functionality of residential plumbing equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot problems with commercial plumbing systems.
- Must be willing to work an afternoon schedule (including weekends).
- Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read drawings
- Valid driver's license, and approved to drive by Company's insurance carrier.
Experience:
Generally requires 4 years as a journey-level plumber/fitter in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations settings.

- Good communicative skills with the ability to effectively work with a variety of internal and external customers.
- Good practical skills.
- An ability to work carefully, methodically and safely.
- A head for heights and willingness to work in all sorts of weather.
- A willingness to work in confined spaces.
Physical Fitness:
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely work in confined areas
- Ability to safely work kneeling, crouching and similar positions for extended periods
- Ability to safely work in extreme temperatures

Compensation:
- Starting wages for no experience is $15 p/hour, but will go up from there depending on additional relevant skills/experience.
