Home Manager Supervisor: Supervises and coordinates activities of Direct Support employees and manages operations of 2-4 facility/facilities providing Non-ICF services. Leads and directs the work of Direct Support Associates and is responsible for the operations of the locations assigned to.
Required Education/Experience
  • Education- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Some college training and/or management experience helpful
  • Experience- 2-4 experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license
Essential Physical and Sensory Requirements- With or without the aid of mechanical devices:
Light:
  • Regularly required to lift 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to pull minimum of 10 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Required to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.

  • Meeting Basic Work Expectations-Complies with basic job requirements and tasks; arrives at work on time as scheduled; proactively informs others when he/she encounters problems that may limit his/her ability to meet expectations.
Essential Job Related Responsibilities:
  • Manages Employee Relations- Ensures completeness of employment processes for new employees prior to hire date; interviews applicants and makes hiring recommendations. Ensures team members meet training requirements, annual physical and attendance at required functions/outings. Submits required paperwork by the payroll processing date.
  • Manages Employee Performance and Development- Participates in employee recognition programs, performance reviews, mentoring, and on-job training for current employees. May participate in onboarding process for new hires. Notifies clinical team and administrator when people supported need additional training and/or provides the necessary training. Spends adequate amount of time in the residential facility monitoring and providing feedback to staff on all three shifts in interactions and relationships with people supported
  • Works with Clinical and Interdisciplinary Team- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the development of each person’s supported Person Centered Plan. Works with and communicates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure provision of quality services. Works closely with Qualified Professional and other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and provide feedback, standardize procedures, expedite Person Centered Plan implementation and workflow and to improve efficiency of team. Maintains harmony among workers and people supported, resolves employee issues and serves as role model for team members.
  • Assists with People Supported Development- Seek to understand the individuals in the context of their personal history, their social and family networks, and their hopes and dreams for the future. Honor the choices and preferences of the people we support. Interact with the people we support in a respectful manner. Provide opportunities and supports that help the individuals we support be viewed with respect and as integral members of their communities. Supports people supported in eating, resting, dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, playing, and working, according to each person’s abilities and interests while ensuring privacy and dignity. Prepares, assists and instructs people supported in food preparation, and cleaning of residences and vocational program areas. Instructs and assists people supported using techniques and strategies designed to improve sensory motor and perceptual motor development, perception, memory, language, cognition, and social and emotional development. Works with each person receiving services to increase motivation; provides consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to each individual for all learning activities. Teaches people supported in self-medication administration according to company policy. Ensures dignity and respect for people supported by honoring privacy and confidentiality, age appropriateness, personal appearance, rules of interaction and choices when appropriate.
  • Manages Internal Assessment Systems- Implements the Quality Assurance Assessment system; Mealtime Assessment, Environmental Assessment, Interaction Assessment, Third Shift Assessment, Weekly Vehicle inspections. .
  • Directs Activities Based on Policies and Procedures- Ensures implementation of all company policies and procedures including but not limited to: home and ground maintenance and sanitation, people supported funds, people supported rights, employee training, forms box, zone system, food and supplies inventory, telephone logs, vehicle mileage and maintenance, etc. Seeks understanding of and follows company policy with regard to employees, ICF/IDD regulations, safety, & blood borne pathogens. Ensures Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork is completed and submitted according to company policy.
  • Manages Financial and Budget Performance- Monitors select budget items and is responsible to stay within those guidelines. Monitors and approves time off, travel reimbursement, overtime, purchasing, payroll time sheets and personnel change notices. Also expected to monitor documentation to assist with accurate billing.
  • Manages Health and Safety Procedures- Files employee injury reports and completes accident investigation forms within 24 hours. Establishes and maintains regular contact with team members recovering from work related injury/illness. Conducts or ensures fire drills, disaster drills, sanitation inspections and trains location and use of exit and fire extinguisher.
  • Performs Home Supervisor Responsibilities- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled by the units Administrator or Corporate managers. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and compliance to company policies and procedures. Determines work to be done, prepares work schedules and ensures adequate coverage. Ensures proper coverage while staff are in meetings and take people supported to doctor appointments. Monitors and approves time off, travel reimbursement, overtime, purchasing, payroll time sheets and personnel change notices. Monitors select budget items and is responsible to stay within those guidelines.

  • Assists with Person Supported Community Life- Transports people supported to and from day programs, work sites, appointments and community activities. Ensures safety and support for personal needs during transportation. Plans, drives vehicles, escorts, leads and encourages recreational events, participates and/or instructs people supported in activities.
  • Provides Support to Team Members and Supervisors- Confers regularly with supervisors, testing specialists, Habilitation Specialists, Qualified Professionals, Program Managers and others to understand, enhance teaching methods and consider factors such as person supporter’s needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations. Asks for help when not sure. Notifies supervisors immediately when unable to complete program tasks as outlined and/or when behavior or activities produce unexpected and unusual results or consequences. Attends mandatory clinical/management team meetings. Ensures shift change responsibilities are documented and that on-site coverage of assigned place of duty is maintained until properly relieved.
  • Assists with Person Centered Plan and Outcomes- Assists in identifying supports needed for personal outcomes to be realized. Is familiar with and works to acchieve the goals and outcomes of the person centered plan. Provides opportunities for choice, and encourages people supported to make choices, and to exercise control over themselves and their environment.
  • Assists with Medical Requests- Gives medications, monitors dosages and makes notes in medical charts in accordance with level of medical certification training and as may be directed by authorized clinical staff.
  • Assists with Data Collection and Reporting- Ensures collection & documentation of required data. Writes in logs, incident reports, program data sheets, etc. noting progress/events. Monitors and reports on the health and condition of people supported
  • Contributes to Continual Improvement- May serve as a mentor to newly hired Direct Support Associates. May participate in QA teams by joining Safety, Outcomes, Vocational Task Force, CQI, and other committees directed by the administrator.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervisory responsibility for two or more employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommendations for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing performance; rewarding, motivating, and promoting team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Working Conditions:
  • Office/Residential- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an office type setting and residential (home) type setting with varying degrees of background noise, usually less than moderate. Lighting and ventilation is available as found in an office environment or normal home setting. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Essential Qualifications/Skills:
  • Language- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and speak in front of a group, respond to questions from employees, people supported, government officials and the general public.
  • Mathematical (Professional)-Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Fundamentals of math such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions and reading charts and graphs as applicable to practical situations. Ability to read financial statements, apply basic financial ratios and reasoning to interpret and project conditions.
  • Reasoning (Professional)-Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, diagrams and deal with several abstract and concrete variables at the same time.
