This year, Open Door will be the medical home for more than 57,000 patients, providing more than 300,000 visits. Our family medical services include primary medical care, dentistry, mental health, optometry, podiatry, and women’s health in Ossining, Sleepy Hollow, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Mount Kisco, Brewster and Saugerties, New York.

Open Door is looking to fill a Holiday Toy Distribution Assistant position.
For close to 35 years, Open Door Family Medical Center has been distributing holiday gifts to the children at our six Medical Centers. Last year, Open Door’s Toy Distributions brought smiles to over 2,500 children during the height of the pandemic.
Pre- Distribution Days
- Register patients to receive free holiday gifts: telephone and computer skills necessary
- Count and organize donated toys
- Apply donations counts to excel spreadsheet
- Assist in Toy Stockroom with sorting and organizing toy donations
- Supervise volunteers
Distribution Event Days
- Event Set-up: Decorate and post signage
- Maintain Pick-up Line and Register Attendees upon arrival (outside of venue)
- Photograph Patients: Help patients complete Media Releases and take photographs
- Distribute Toy Gift Bags
- Event Breakdown: re-box remaining toys, take down decorations and signs, load cars
Post Distribution Days
- Create Excel sheets with Holiday information
- Organize files
- Manage toy stockroom
Assist as needed in all aspects of the Holiday Toy Days
Assist Volunteer Manager in all aspects of programs including Pre-natal programs
Competencies
- Must be Bilingual/ Spanish
- Computer literate: the ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to lift 25 pounds boxes
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Thoroughness/Attention to Detail
- Communicates effectively and clearly with patients and team members
- Strong team player and the ability to work independently
Commitment
- Flexibility to travel to different locations and work one Saturday within Westchester County and lower Putnam County.
- Availability to work on all Toy Distribution Dates: 12/3, 12/8, 12/11, 12/14, 12/17, 12/21
- Duration of opportunity is 8 to 10 weeks starting November 22nd
- Minimum of 37.5 hours per week: flexibility required
- On-site supervision
