Histology Supervisor

The Histology Supervisor manages the daily operations and provides leadership within the clinical Histology section of the Laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Staff hiring, training, competency, evaluation, and scheduling.
• Specimen receipt, processing, and tracking.
• Quality Assurance including ensuring appropriate processing, handling, and testing of all patient samples.
• Works to meet and exceed the set and expected turnaround times.
• Maintains overall safety of the Histology Laboratory.
• Ensures constant compliance and regulatory and inspection readiness.
• Works collaboratively with the Anatomic Pathology Manager and Administrative Director to manage all aspects of the department including Human Resources, Finance and Budget, and future planning and preparation.
• Communicates effectively with all parties including immediate staff, colleagues, physicians, pathologists, patients/visitors, and outside vendors.
• Promotes a positive attitude and maintains professionalism throughout the department and hospital.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in a related Scientific field or equivalent years of experience is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of Histology experience.
• Histology Technologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT) and Board Certified (ASCP) is preferred.
