NYOS Charter SchoolHS Special Education Educational Assistant Job DescriptionReports to: PrincipalService time: 190 DaysAbout NYOSNYOS, an acronym for "Not Your Ordinary School", is an open-enrollment public charter school with 2 campuses, located in North Austin. Primary Role: This position supports Grades 8-12.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred Texas Teaching certification preferredSpecial Education experience preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties: Collaborate with General Education and Special Education teachers in support of students' instructional needs; teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement; establish and maintain procedures to ensure order among students.Assist in maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.Provide differentiated instruction in support of students' goals and objectives in one or more subject areas such as English, mathematics, or science.Use technology and other equipment and materials to supplement instruction as necessary.Support administration of standardized tests as required.Other duties as assigned.Professional Requirements: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information concerning students, parents, staff, and classroom incidents.Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional and responsible. Participate in approved professional development to improve skills related to job assignments. Follow NYOS standard procedures for communication, interaction, and discipline as outlined in the NYOS Staff Handbook.
