General Job Description
Reads routine sentences, instructions, regulations, procedures, or work orders; writes routine sentences and completes routine job forms and incident reports, speaks routine sentences using proper grammar. Performs manual and technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures and requiring intensive understanding of a restricted field or complete familiarity with the functions of a unit or small division of an operating agency; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure. Guides others, making frequent decisions, affecting the individual, coworkers, and others who depend on the service or product. Ability to maintain physical conditions necessary to perform official duties and day-to-day operations, and to operate job related equipment.
- Operates various pieces of heavy equipment typically used in the construction of roads and drainage.
- Operates various pieces of heavy equipment typically used in the construction of roads and drainage.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
- Requires high school diploma with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment operation or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Must be able to pass the required pre-employment physical and background check.
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Class A Commercial Driver’s License required.
