PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $62,243.58 - $78,549.71
Hourly Pay Range: $29.924796 - $37.764284
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

We are seeking a motivated, skilled and team oriented individual to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic within the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) / Fleet Services Division. If selected for this position, you will be mainly responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and restoring medium (GVWR 10,500- 26,600 lbs.) and heavy (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.) maintenance, construction, and power generation equipment.
Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- A minimum of one (1) year of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position
- Experience performing routine preventative maintenance on light and heavy vehicles and equipment
- Experience inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing light and heavy duty vehicles and equipment
- Experience reading and interpreting, schematics and diagrams
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- Experience inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing hydraulic systems
- At least two (2) years of experience with heavy equipment repair and maintenance
- Training and/or education in a formal or specialized environment such as Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Technology

- Must be available for on-call emergency response

Post-employment Requirements:
- Within 12 Months of Hire: Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions in order to drive manual transmission and full air brake vehicles. Incumbent(s) must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties require frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, balancing, climbing, twisting, reaching, grasping, fine motor control, and the ability to lift 100 pounds, carry up to 75 pounds, and push/pull 75 pounds. Duties also involve frequent exposure to confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, adverse weather conditions, poor visibility/low lighting, and working on top of vehicles/equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is included in the County’s alternate workweek program, working 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off). The current shift is from 3:00 pm - 1:00 am. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.
Please Note: This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.

DTD is responsible for a broad range of county services involving land use planning and permitting, building permits, county code enforcement, solid waste and recycling, road construction and maintenance, surveying, plat approvals, public land corner restoration and dog services. The county’s urban renewal programs also report to DTD.

The Fleet Services Division provides the following services:
- Vehicle and equipment acquisition, including needs analysis, specification development, procurement process support
- Setup and up-fitting, including vehicle markings, safety equipment, lights, radios
- Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) support, including licensing, title/registration, plate renewals
- Fuel provider support, including fuel contract, fuel cards/DINs, reporting
- Maintenance and repair, including full-service maintenance shop, body shop, welding/fabrication shop
- Vehicle and equipment disposition, including equipment and marking removal, DMV paperwork, auction logistic support
