Job Description:
A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations (classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
Position Summary: The Health Services Assistants will maintain regular office procedures and provide assistance to nursing staff on all shifts, in all areas where health center activities take place.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive first point of contact for telephone and walk in guests/patients
  • Promote a positive and cooperative working relationship between Interlochen Health Services and all internal and external departments and vendors
  • Maintain confidentiality in all interactions with students, staff, faculty, parents, and guests
  • Maintain daily tracking logs and electronic systems related to student/visit data, student attendance, Health Center traffic etc
  • Assist in the tracking of student medication data and maintaining medication compliance
  • Under the guidance and direction of Health Center nursing staff, assist in meeting the needs of walk in students and inpatients; including but not limited to meals, linens, referrals, prescription orders etc
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Complies with ICA policies/procedures and acts as a good steward of ICA finances.
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all students, their families and the community.
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

Education:* High School Diploma Required
Experience: Health experience or training preferred
Equipment Familiarity: Mac OS, Google Suite including Gmail and Microsoft products
Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, but we will provide training upon hire

Physical Demands:
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 50lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
