Health Screening Specialist - Downtown Job at Kalihi Palama Health Center
Primary Purpose:
The person in this position is a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home where each team member plays an integral role in providing patient-centered health care. The incumbent is responsible in screening patients and visitors at the door, monitors patient flow, and assists in navigating patient appointments.
Essential Duties:
Smile and greets patient, employees, and visitors in a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive manner.
Queries every patient and visitor that enters into KPHC doors on COVID-19 related questions such as: travel, signs and symptoms, pending test results, or any exposure to COVID-19.
Takes the temperature of staff, patient, and visitors upon entry into KPHC doors.
Review patient appointments utilizing a laptop and navigate patient to proceed to their appropriate appointment as necessary.
Refers patients who has elevated temperature or may show signs and symptoms of COVID-19 to the KPHC COVID-19 tent.
Communicates effectively with the triage nurse or assigned nurse.
Monitors patient flow from the door to the waiting area to ensure that social distancing guidelines are followed appropriately.
Collaborates with CHW and Language Line Solutions in providing language assistance to patients as necessary.
Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.
Other Duties:
Ensures that PPE guidelines are followed for self and others
Participates in care team meetings as appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned
- Observes safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Medical assistant certification preferred
One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
New graduate welcome or a general experience in working in a community or hospital setting preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
Medical terminology proficiency required
Computer proficiency required
Ability to type 60 words per minute
Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variable in standard situations
Fluency in English and Cantonese/Mandarin/Vietnamese (preferred but not required)
