Working to meet the health and nutritional needs of women, children and families with information, education, and quality care, MFHS is currently seeking a part-time Health Educator for our Wilkes-Barre admin location.
JOB SUMMARY
The Health Educator will deliver reproductive health education programming to youth while working to achieve goals established for the delivery of health education through various projects. The Health Educator position will staff the MFHS SafeSpace and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-informed education and counseling to youth in Lackawanna County, including referrals to reproductive health and community services, dissemination of risk reduction tools and promotion of MFHS teen platforms. This position will be responsible for daily SafeSpace operations including reporting on grant data and deliverables and will represent MFHS at community events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Explain the purpose of the program and provide an overview of what to expect during the Provide age-appropriate, individual, confidential counseling and education, including linkages to care and referral to services, to youth in Lackawanna County while staffing MFHS SafeSpace
- Facilitate evidence-informed reproductive health education programming for students and faculty at identified schools through the PREP and HRC projects
- Ensure timely submission of grant data and deliverables, collaborating with MFHS staff/leadership on submission of quarterly reports as needed
- Work with Senior Health Educator to deliver RH education programming and outreach activities including community events and social media
- Participate in required trainings, meetings and professional development as required by project-specific deliverables
- Promote and contribute to organizational and programmatic goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- General understanding of reproductive health topics and adolescent development
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years’ experience preferred
- Child Abuse, PA Criminal Record & FBI Clearances
- Ability to use independent judgement and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information and sensitive situations
- Good verbal communication
- Excellent verbal communication skills for public speaking, group presentations, etc.
- Ability to articulate clearly
