An Off-Campus Work-Study position
Notah Begay III Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization seeking an undergraduate or graduate work-study student for the position of Health Champion who will support Native American childhood prevention initiatives, including research and communication. The NB3 Foundation seeks students interested in being part of a larger movement to support Native American children’s health by researching interventions, curriculum and measurement tools. There will be a research focus on physical activity and nutrition. We seek committed students able to work approximately 15-20 hours per week with strong interpersonal skills who work well independently and in a teamwork environment.
The student in this position is responsible for the following:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Evaluation and Research the successful candidate will provide support primarily to the Evaluation and Research team as well as other organizational departments (NB3FIT, Advancement, Community Empowerment). We are looking for a self-starter whose essential roles and responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the team to create and/or coordinate researching of topics in children’s health. This may include but is not limited to the development of issue briefs and identifying research gaps for future research.
Provide support for local, regional and national events.
Participate in team meetings, organizational meetings and appropriate off-site meetings.
Special projects assigned throughout the work-study depending on the student’s skills and interests

Minimum Qualifications:
Student in a field related to health and wellness, Native American studies, urban planning, food systems and health policy.
Strong interest in Native American health topics required; previous experience and/or background preferred.
Strong communication skills, with emphasis on time-management and online research and analysis.
Must be able to interact with Notah Begay III Foundation staff in a professional and efficient manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Self-starter who can work well independently and is detail oriented.
Graduate student or highly motivated undergraduate
