The sorter is responsible for the day-to-day itemization and pricing of donated items. This individual works with the floor lead to ensure the efficient flow of merchandise from the warehouse to the sales floor.

Essential job functions:

  • Responsible for fast-paced pricing of hard goods.
  • Place price tags on items to be sold based on established guidelines relative to the condition of the items.
  • Place tagged merchandise on racks or in sorting bins as the final stage of preparation for movement to the sales floor.
  • Always comply with the strict policy of confidentiality in all matters related to customers, donors, and co-workers.
  • Assist Production Supervisor with coordination of efficient transfer of merchandise from the warehouse to the sales floor. Vincentian Presence: To provide all services with dignity while assisting customers (which include voucher recipients and volunteers) without regard to race, color, or creed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean, organized work area while meeting or exceeding regular productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Perform all work activities in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Safely relocate unmarketable stock to the recycling or disposal area as appropriate.
  • Duties may be accomplished by lifting, placing, carrying, pushing, rolling, banding, packaging or operating material handling equipment
  • Provide timely communication back to the Warehouse Lead regarding any changes or issues experienced while pricing merchandise.
  • Immediately reports any accidents or injuries to management.

Education/Licensing/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
  • Demonstrates a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of explaining information to customers and fellow associates.
  • Detail-oriented and able to write.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Knowledge of current trends is preferred.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn computer software systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Perform repetitive motions necessary to move merchandise and materials.
  • Employee will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
  • Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds with or without the use of a hand truck for distances up to 25 feet. Transporting any weight 25 feet or beyond requires the use of a hand truck (or the aid of some alternate material handling equipment). Employees may occasionally be required to transport and move up to 200 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, climb, use hands and arms * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
  • Flexible to work varied hours and overtime as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.50 - $11.75 per hour
