Job Title: Guest Services Assistant & Driver
Reports to: Guest Services Supervisor
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Terms: 40 hours/week; overtime may be available (through Manpower NM)
Rate: $15/hour (morning & afternoon shifts); $17/hour (evening shift)
Schedule: Three shifts available:
1. Morning Shift – 6:00AM–2:00PM
2. Afternoon Shift – 2:00PM–10:00PM
3. Evening Shift – 10:00PM–6:00AM
Shift schedules require candidates committed to assisting with a smooth transition between teams.

About the Role
Guest Services Assistants / Drivers cooperate with a team in the operations of BSC’s Hospitality Center (temporary shelter) and report to the Guest Services Supervisor on duty. The role is predominantly interpersonal with guests and team members within the scope of daily operations.
A portion of the time, Guest Services Assistants / Drivers provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring the highest standards of discretion, integrity, and responsibility. Guest Services Assistants / Drivers connect with our contacts both on and off campus including, but not limited to, our guests and volunteers at the El Paso International
Airport for effective collaboration.
Responsibilities
Guest Services Operations: Works with the Guest Services Team in carrying out operations at the Hospitality Center
(temporary shelter). Relevant operations include, but may not be limited to:
● Guest Relations
- Welcome guests
- Distribute materials (clothing, travel food/supplies)
- Escort guests to different areas of campus (sleeping, dining, medical, etc.)
- Serve meals (prepare, distribute, clean up)
- Prepare guests for departure (excluding travel arrangements)
- Respond to the needs of guests during their stay
● Site Maintenance
- Housekeeping
- Guest laundry
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling
- Receive, sort and stock inventory
- Maintain accurate inventory logs
● Welcoming & Teamwork
- Collaborate with all members of the Hospitality Center – including community volunteers – to ensure success of the overall operation
- Greet visitors and volunteers touring the Center, kindly engaging them in discussion of operations
Driving Operations: Works with Drivers & a variety of teams to carry out operations related to the Hospitality Center
(temporary shelter). Relevant operations include, but may not be limited to:
● Transportation
- Providing safe and reliable transportation for guests and other authorized personnel
- Transporting guests to transit stations, primarily located in El Paso, TX
● Record-keeping
- Ensuring availability of all the required documentation/supplies including, but not limited to, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, first aid kit and other MOSS-compliant equipment, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle
- Maintaining accurate vehicle log books and recording daily trips to ensure efficient vehicle use and fuel consumption to support accurate accounting and cost-efficiency
● Regular vehicle upkeep
- Ensuring proper day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles: Checking and maintaining oil levels, tire pressure, brake and water levels, etc.
- Keeping vehicles clean and in good running condition at all times: Cleanliness (inside and out), etc.
- Properly installing car seats and booster seats, according to manufacturer guidelines
● Reporting to the Facility/Fleet/Grounds Technicians
- Major repairs, in a timely manner
- Vehicle maintenance, planning and reporting
● Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with volunteers at the El Paso Airport
- Address questions by guests en-route to transit stations (i.e. TSA protocols)
- Help guide guests through to TSA, if/when Airport volunteers unavailable
● Additional
- Perform basic tasks at the direction of Supervisors
- Perform other relevant duties assigned
Candidate Requirements
The following requirements are necessary for this position:
● Education: High school diploma or equivalent
● Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of full- time work experience
- Valid driver's license
- Safe driving record
● Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish and English, required
- Comfort speaking to and directing crowds
- Demonstrated skill at prompt and professional verbal communication
- Skilled at working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
- Strong initiative
- Flexible; ability to adjust to changing circumstances
- Excellent knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Knowledge of local roads and conditions
- Skilled in and/or ability to learn minor vehicle repair
- Good knowledge of security issues
- Ability to deal calmly with unexpected circumstances or delays
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behaviors and attitudes including, but not limited to, age, race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, military status, genetic information, or any other status

- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including driver’s license check
- Ability to successfully complete and pass a food handler’s course soon after being hired (material and examination provided through BSC)
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Completed COVID-19 vaccination and booster
● Ability to work comfortably for a faith-based employer, as Border Servant Corps is a ministry of the
