Hotel Front Desk and Sales Agent
We are searching for an experienced and reliable person with hotel front desk and customer service skills. Sales experience a plus. Training would encompass first and 2nd shifts. Starting hourly pay would depend upon experience. This is a part-time or full time position and is available immediately. You must provide a resume that reflects similar customer service experience within the last 2 years.

Best Western Plus Siesta Key Gateway is a family and locally owned/operated hotel. We offer benefits to our full-time employees and reward those who perform above and beyond in their position. We do require a full background check prior to employment. This is a permanent position.

Responsibilities and Duties

Represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest’s stay by working with all hotel personnel to ensure every guest experiences superior customer care. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Answer incoming calls appropriately. Assist all guests and make reservations as necessary.
  • Maintains an inventory of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department. Takes same-day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Knows cancellation procedures.
  • Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Registers arriving guests and assigns rooms.
  • Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and part-day rooms.
  • Coordinates guest room maintenance work with the engineering and maintenance division.
  • Uses persuasive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
  • Knows daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the front office manager or shift supervisor.
  • Manages and resolves all guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Processes guest check-outs and handle monetary transactions.
  • Maintains customers’ privacy.
  • Maintains a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Answers phone calls, and makes reservations and modifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have prior computer experience and comfortable with multi tasking.
  • Attention to detail to avoid computer and guest errors a must
  • Must be innovative and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently and have the drive to succeed.
  • Outstanding communication and organization skills.
  • Previous hotel-related experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate with the public, hotel staff, and management in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of surrounding areas and local events.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to proper credit and cash handling policies and procedures. Able to properly secure guest information.
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with mandatory weekends and holidays (7 AM - 3 PM; 3 PM - 11 PM).
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
