POSITION SUMMARY
The Wellness Manager is responsible for the effective operation of assigned departments. Responsibility may include but is not limited to: center operation, program operation, program development and growth, participant satisfaction, participant and member retention and safety, community collaborations, volunteer development, and staff supervision. The Wellness Manager is accountable for delivering exceptional and outstanding programs and services to YMCA members, volunteers, and participants in partnership with a larger team. They are a vital member of the YMCA leadership staff and a highly visible representative of the YMCA mission, and core values and are accountable for knowing and properly executing all YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist or be able to lead efforts in recruiting, orientation, and on-site training of new staff.
- Coordinate scheduling of all Wellness staff.
- Continually ensure that Wellness staff maintain required certifications and are aware of the expiration dates of their current certifications.
- The ability to assist in or lead all required Wellness staff training and meetings.
- Perform and document drop drills and Wellness quick checks for the Wellness team as needed.
- Coordinate scheduling of Wellness programming as needed and have fun developing and implementing new Wellness programs.
- Serve as a group exercise instructor and wellness floor staff as needed.
- Perform daily office work as needed such as filing, copying, record keeping, and payroll completion.
- Ensure that all necessary paperwork and forms are available to and accurately completed by the Wellness staff.
- Always champion the YMCA culture, continually provide outstanding customer service, and strive to develop committed participants, staff, and volunteers.
- Lead by example and work collaboratively with fellow YMCA Wellness staff.
- Initiate communication with Wellness leadership as necessary concerning program problems, personnel conflicts, and member concerns.
- Act as a role model for other staff in terms of preparedness, reactiveness, and performance.
- Continuously exhibit honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, reliability, flexibility, maturity, and good decision-making skills.
- Models inclusive management behaviors and embraces all dimensions of diversity by building strong teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to advancing our mission
- Oversees the budgeting process within their service line/department ensuring that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- One 3 or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Previous experience in fitness, group exercise, personal training, or other related fields.
- CPR and First Aid certification and accredited industry certifications may be required or obtained required within 90 days of hire.
- Basic computer literacy and related technology required for communication, scheduling, and reporting.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, social services, business, or equivalent is preferred
