The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating visual designs to enhance the firm’s content and increase brand recognition. As part of the creative services team, you will work across all channels – website, email, social media, print, promotional and environmental materials – and in multiple mediums. The ideal candidate is an experienced designer who is passionate about solving nuanced design problems in the simplest, most elegant way.
Essential Functions
- In conjunction with Business Development, maintain and update all firm collateral, including flyers, brochures, postcards, and pitchdecks
- Act as lead designer for all advertising requests (digital and print)
- Collaborate with Events team and external vendors to maintain our online store(s) for JL-branded items and gifts
- Create interactive pieces for our website including infographics, process maps and content campaigns using Adobe Illustrator and Ceros
- Help maintain, manage and track all brand assets, including collateral, logos, lockups, iconography, illustrations, patterns and images
- Uphold brand guidelines and contribute to visual identity extensions; ensure compliance with firm guidelines and design standards
- Refine and expand assets initially produced by an outside agency into a wide-range of literature and corporate collateral
- Work with content and creative teams to understand project scope and objectives; contribute to collaborative brainstorms and concept development; create work that elevates content and raises the design bar for internal and external clients
- Assist in selecting audio, video, colors, animation, etc. for graphic design
- Work with editors and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge about latest graphic design techniques
Requires Skills/Qualifications
- At least 5 years of graphic design experience, preferably in a professional services environment
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with editing tools
- Expertise in PowerPoint/presentation design
- Experience with Ceros strongly preferred
- A portfolio that showcases a variety of design skills and applications.
- General skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Web design/animation, mobile web/app design/production, interactive, UI/UX design experience is a plus.
- A designer’s eye. Able to work within brand guidelines and create original looks and styles (design, layout, typography and color theory).
- Willingness to learn and explore new creative software and tools.
- Conceptual thinker and visual problem solver.
- Able to satisfy clients’ requirements, but also are comfortable providing innovative insights when needed.
- Bring a high level of creativity, attention to detail and efficiency while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills; able to communicate ideas to functional and non-functional stakeholders.
- Able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven, team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Team player who collaborates well with colleagues within and outside of the immediate team
For Westchester County, the expected salary range for this position is between $80 - $90 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
