When you join PPGNY as a Government Relations Associate you will act as support staff for the Public Affairs Department for city, state and federal legislative and policy activities.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Work within the PGNY External Affairs Department to help maintain relationships with elected officials and government agencies to advance issues related to PPGNY, its work and mission
- Coordinates the submission of City Council budget applications including identifying targets for member items, city initiatives, and capital projects, liaising with PPGNY departments to draft program overviews, draft and deliver testimony, and following up with City Council Members and staff
- Proactively research, analyze, and identify policy issues that impact PPNYC’s patient and client base
- Monitor legislative, budget, and research developments, and propose policy and advocacy solutions
- Draft summaries, briefing papers, testimony, and statements
- Oversee and manage the logistics of PPGNY's city and state lobbying program, including the annual Day of Action in Albany and in-district visits
- Partner with Organizing or Equity and Engagement and other internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and implement community outreach initiatives or events with electeds
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least two years of related and/or applicable administrative, research and/or advocacy experience in a political or social issues setting plus a strong interest in reproductive health and rights advocacy.
- Prior electoral work
Compensation:
- $44,000-55,000 yearly

All positions at PPGNY require:
Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
