Job Title: Global Logistics Center Manager
Salary Range: $95,000 - $130,000


Cryoport Systems Global Logistics Center Manager will lead the Flag Ship Center of Excellence in Irvine California. The present location will expand to 5 times into the Global Logistics & Bioservices Center Asia Pacific and Australia.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position reports to the Director, of Global Supply Chain Network. The incumbent is responsible for both the strategic & tactical management, leadership, and oversight of operations for the Logistics Center (LC) located in Irvine, California. His/her responsibilities will include daily management of the Logistics Center and all fulfillment operations for the facility. Specific day-to-day responsibilities include organizing anticipated workloads; managing, training, and developing employees to support all LC functions. Important measures of the incumbent’s competency is his/her effectiveness in managing workload and workflow efficiencies as well as demonstrated responsiveness to clients and quick reaction to highly demanding situations. Strategically, he/she will work in conjunction with both the site-level and corporate Senior Vice President & Chief Technical and Innovation Officer, and Vice President, Quality & Regulatory Affairs in creating a mechanism for continuous process improvement to ensure the Irvine LC is the Center of Excellence for Cryoport Systems.


He/she is responsible for assuring proactive facility maintenance by working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the LC is meeting or exceeding all regulatory requirements as defined by the Quality Assurance department and local regulations as required.

The incumbent will be responsible for all facility functions including but not limited to effective facility and employee management, security/safety programs, building maintenance, day-to-day management of the Cryoshuttle service, and all associated regulatory requirements as applicable.

Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of vital metrics to appropriate management personnel in various departments is required. Reporting requirements are agreed upon with the Director, Global Supply Chain Network, and include suggestions for improvements, escalation management, and resolution implementation across all site-level functions.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Logistics Center Management
    • Establishing and reporting on a set of germane metrics measuring the effectiveness and improvement trends across all products, services, and actions in the LC.
    • Educating and enforcing the Company’s documented Processes and procedures in conjunction with all global departments and structures.
    • Site, security, safety, and all related employee advocacies programs
    • Facility Maintenance requirements
    • Compliance with Quality Assurance programs both internal and customer-facing
    • Training Program that includes OSHA, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and personnel development
    • Educating his/her facilities on fundamental expectations and enforcing dress code, cleanliness requirements, etc., and leading by example
    • Training
    • Ensuring the LC is Audit ready at all times.
  • Oversight includes:
    • Manage daily attendance, workload, and personnel issues
    • Planning, training, and executing an ever-improving workflow management
    • Escalations and resolutions
    • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
  • Training
    • Develop training programs for educating and improving the performance of personnel
    • Develop and conduct training of personnel on the use of the Cryoportal. Test competencies and trending increasingly extensive use and ensuring the skills are maintained.
    • Develop and conduct training on effective communications and upselling for client care and Supply chain.
  • Reporting
    • Develop, generate, and disseminate reports as agreed on with Director GSC.
    • Develop, generate, and disseminate reports as agreed on with Director GSC monthly activity reports on all carriers (integrators, freight forwarders, couriers, etc.)
  • Economics
    • Accountable for operating budget relating to assignment
    • Responsible for the accuracy of invoicing where applicable.
    • Responsible for the accuracy of accounts payable where applicable.
    • Charged with achieving efficiencies by workflow cost reductions and implementing methods of improving efficiencies
  • General
    • The ability to manage both Strategic and Tactical projects simultaneously.
    • Effective and initiative-taking management and leadership
    • Fluid interaction with all internal departments
    • Presentation skills to be used in leadership, training, etc.
    • A readiness to assume other duties as assigned

Education

  • Education/Certification
  • College degree required

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Leadership, is the ability to act without being told, to develop others, to improve company performance and reputation in a global arena.
  • Ability to listen, understand and evaluate logistical & operational issues as related to supply chain management
  • Ability to solve practical problems (logistical & situational) and deal with multiple variables, such as transportation, warehousing, customs, inventory, personnel, client demands, sales team, and other individuals that may be disruptive in executing success in business.
  • Ability to make effective, timely, and appropriate decisions relating to executing revenue and job performance.
  • Ability to evaluate the necessity and timeliness for escalation of issues to management.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively complete “next step” recommendations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional, supportive relationships with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal employees.
  • Excellent English, written, and verbal, communication skills required
  • Languages other than English are a plus (written and spoken)

Experience

  • 10+ years of general logistics management & customer service are required.
