General Description

Under supervision of Project Director, perform public data acquisition, manipulation, and analysis. Format and prepare data for use by geographic information system (GIS) analysis including preparation of maps and displays using ESRI ArcGIS and related software and extensions.

Work with NYC Open data (building, finance, fire, health), census data, national fire incident reporting system data, and other sources to do spatial analysis of multivariate information.

Fluent with conversion and quality checking of records including time conversions and calculations, georeferencing, and utilzing multiple agency data and geographies to produce analysis.

Hours will vary depending on progress with projects.

Other Duties

Familiar with NYC addressing and standards

Identify data sources held at local, state and federal levels

Make inquiries on availability of data sources

Library research and acquisition of public data

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with significant course work or certifications in GIS, data analysis

Familiar with ESRI software suite

Comfortable with manipulation of large data sets from census, open data, public agency records

Meticulous and detail oriented

Excellent communication skills

Comfortable with Excel

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963.
