We service all of Hudson, Essex, Union, Somerset, Hunterdon, and portions of Middlesex and Warren counties. We operate offices in Westfield and North Branch, NJ; and maintain camp properties in Maplewood, Hillsborough, and Middleville, NJ.

The Role...
We are looking for a talented and passionate individual to join our Girl Experience team as Girl Experience Specialist who will assist in achieving the council’s overall goals by coordinating and delivering high-quality, relevant program events for Girl Scouts ages 5-17 as driven by Girl Scout philosophy, funding requirements, market needs, and current trends. The Girl Experience Specialist works collaboratively with Girl Experience and other internal departments to ensure the success of GSHNJ’s mission to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to all members.
Here's What You Will Be Doing...
- Interprets the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) philosophy and the council’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Remains current on GSUSA’s initiatives, as well as national and local trends affecting youth.
- Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all appropriate youth and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
- Coordinates and delivers program events on a broad range of topics that provide relevant, innovative, engaging, and diverse experiences for Girl Scouts ages 5-17. Ensures program events fulfill the GSLE’s delivery methodology and meets expected outcomes.
- Works with cross-functional team to support candidates pursuing the highest awards in Girl Scouting.
- Coordinates volunteers and community partners as necessary for the successful delivery of programs and events.
- Participates in analyzing current trends and market needs for the productive planning and delivery of programs and events.
- Optimizes the use of technology to support customer service, program event management, budgeting, program effectiveness, and accurate record keeping.
- Uses various tools to assess and analyze effectiveness of programs in fulfilling outcomes, meeting expectations, member enjoyment, adherence to GSLE philosophies, and observance of funding guidelines.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Is this you?
- B.A. or equivalent of two or more years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-browsing software. Ability to quickly learn new software applications as necessary.
- Communicates effectively with diverse groups of youth ages 5-17, adult volunteers, coworkers, and business partners.
- Demonstrates effective facilitation and presentation skills.
- Promotes retention and transfer of knowledge or skills by using Girl Scouts’ program delivery methodologies and appropriate use of technology.
- Coordinates multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines; flexibility to re-prioritize as workload shifts in accordance with day-to-day tasks.
- Attention to detail when planning, implementing, and reporting on programs and events.
- Assesses own skills and abilities to identify areas for improvement or assistance; willingly accepts constructive feedback.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Youth leadership and development.
- Event planning.
- Familiarity with Salesforce software and applications.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Flexibility to shift work hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift and manipulate up to 30 pounds of Girl Scouting products, supplies, or materials.
- A valid driver's license, current insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel between council properties and across entire service area as needed.
- Become a registered member of Girl Scouts and maintain membership for duration of employment.
- The job is primarily performed remotely, but Employee may work from the offices as needed. Occasionally, Employee will need to attend meetings, trainings, or work events that may be held in any of our locations, others throughout council jurisdiction, or virtually.
