Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Perform a comprehensive range of near-surface geophysical/DFT technologies in support of geologic, groundwater, environmental, engineering, and materials testing investigations. Perform non-invasive geophysical/DFT surveys from the ground surface as well as utility locating to provide images or models of subsurface conditions. Define survey objectives, design survey approaches, analyze the resulting geophysical data, and provide interpretation of results.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Mid-level, experienced Geophysicist or PFT Practitioner responsible for conducting near-surface geophysical/DFT surveys and making recommendations for systems design on medium sized projects with a variety of complexity.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the use of some or all of the following:
    • ground penetrating radar, magnetometry, terrain conductivity, electrical resistivity profiling, electrical resistivity sounding, seismic refraction, MASW, and utility locating methods.
  • Will perform deep foundation testing with oversite or offsite assistance of Senior Engineer. Pile load testing methods include:
    • High Strain Dynamic Load Testing
    • Low Strain Integrity Testing
    • Thermal Integrity Profiling
    • Cross-hole Sonic Logging
  • Participates with more senior Geophysicists on large, more complex projects.
  • Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
  • Direct and supervise field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
  • Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects.
  • Evaluates moderately complex geophysical data and assembles in written reports.
  • May serve as team member or lead in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
  • May oversee work performed by lower-level Geophysicists and Technicians.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience collecting, processing, and interpreting geophysical and/or pile driving analysis data using one or more methods. Management experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum 4-6 years’ experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Willingness to travel.

The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
