Position Description
The Genetic Counselor provides genetic education, counseling, genetic testing, and psychological support to individuals and families who are concerned regarding hereditary defects or genetic disorders. This role assesses individuals and families at risk, analyzes inheritance patterns, identifies and reviews appropriate testing options, and provides interpretation and follow-up of test results with patients and families.
Position Requirements
Master's Degree in Genetics Counseling/Human Genetics. Certification required: American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) eligible for Genetic Counselor certification. Must be obtained within 1 year of hire. Licensure required: Georgia Composite Medical Board licensure to be obtained within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Requirements
1 year or more of experience in Genetic Counseling. American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) Certification and valid Georgia Composite Medical Board licensure upon hire.
