The General Mechanic, (2nd Shift - 2pm to 10 pm), will be a core member of the Facilities & Grounds Department. This person’s main function is to manage the main facilities, assisting other maintenance crew and other department as needed.

The General Mechanic operates under the supervision of the Facilities & Grounds Director. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the basic electrical, plumbing, pumps & motors and HVAC; ability to perform installation and maintenance tasks; ability to use sound judgment in directing and participating in emergency repair activities; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to get along well with others; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Response to any emergency repair maintenance.
• Operates vehicles to transport various types of materials and supplies.
• Performing routine maintenance on the entire facilities like changing light bulbs & fixtures and etc.
• Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
• Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
• Perform other basic repair & maintenance.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, pumps & motors and HVAC.
• HVAC Certificate (preferred)
• Electrical training Certificate (preferred)
• Good physical health and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Education

• Technical or Trade School Graduate OR Certificate
