We are currently seeking an experienced General Manager who is very organized, detail oriented and a proven team leader. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and proactive. Given the company’s fast paced environment and desire for growth, the candidate must be aggressive, methodical and organized.

Position Overview

• Management & leadership - Ensures proper staffing levels, develops employees, and focuses resources to attain key safety, financial, and operational goals.
• Utilizes metrics and reports to identify trends, make course corrections to maximize production efficiency and profitability of the yard.
• Fosters an environment of Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement. Ensures that standardized work practices are exercised daily, including SOP’s, housekeeping checklists and quality checks.
• Lead the yards daily business activity regarding scrap collection, processing, & shipping.
• Provides support to the operations on a 24/7, on-call/as-needed basis and may be required to travel.
• Oversee yard, warehouse, equipment inspections, and conduct weekly safety meeting.
• Manages policy deployment in the areas of safety, employee relations, cost reduction and yard performance measures.
• Responsible for managing the productivity and performance of the team.
• Manage inventory, including transfer and onsite inventory while facilitating an organized and clean yard at all times.
• Must lead and support a culture of safety at all times, in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
• Maintain customer service as a top priority and assist in resolving any/all customer issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of proven management/leadership experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the scrap metal industry.
• Must have an innate capability to deliver results through people and foster a teamwork environment.
• Must have an effective and confident communicator with all levels of the organization and community.
• Must exhibit effective problem-solving skills along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Has strong understanding of material identification and is able to ensure material is processed effectively and meets quality standards.
• Ability to multitask within a highly dynamic, fast-paced work environment, with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
• Must have excellent customer service, communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Dependable and consistent work ethic.
• Computer experience required which includes Microsoft Excel, Word, Office and the ability to learn in house systems (Buy Back Pro).
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements, which includes but is not limited to a drug screen test and background check.
