Responsibilites:
- Plan and communicate with employees to execute project plans safely and efficiently.
- Oversee switching, inspection, maintenance and repair of railway cars and locomotives.
- Oversee the cleaning operations to ensure train cars meet standards, expectations and are presentable for passengers.
- Report any issues associated with car and/or locomotive inspection and repair.
- Plan appropriation of labor while maintaining records.
- Ensure equipment is positioned for inspection, repair and testing to meet the needs of the shift.
- Provide technical assistance to the crew or staff as required.
- Provide recommendations to the Trainmaster regarding employee’s considered for promotion to higher grade in craft.
- Ensure that staff is adhering and in compliance with all prescribed Company, statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, vehicle operation, risk management, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, DOT and FRA regulations.
- Ensure that staff is adhering to all prescribed Environmental Management Systems (EMS) policies and corporate commitments to maintain ISO 14001 goals and guidelines.
- Overtime as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Locomotive Engineer Certification
- Minimum 5 years previous railroad experience in a supervisory position.
- Must possess a valid and clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply GCR Special Instructions and the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.
- Communication skills both verbal and written (general and technical).
- Critical thinking skills with ability to problem solve
- Mechanical aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills
