General Foreman Job at CDM Smith
Manages the day to day activity of staff. Provides feedback on performance appraisals. Manages the development and training of staff. Approves paid time off requests (PTO) and ensures human resources policies are followed. Monitors work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and schedule. Works with field staff and construction management to determine staffing needs and ensure availability. Schedules staff based on required skill sets. Maintains cost control over equipment and materials used by craft personnel. Schedules and track all equipment and tools owned by the firm. Oversees preventative maintenance and repair on vehicles and equipment. Ensures employees comply with safety policies and remain current on safety training. Orders and maintains inventory of safety equipment. Performs other duties as required. Completes daily construction reports and other paperwork and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. 5 years of construction experience with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, etc. Good ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Good oral and written communications skills. Good planning and organizational skills. Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
