GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providers at Robeson Health Care Corporation deliver the full range of primary dental care services, including diagnosis, treatment, preventative, minor surgical procedures, and occasional dental emergencies. The providers are responsible for seeing their scheduled patients as well as walk-ins and add-ons, providing coverage during the operating hours of the Center, providing telephone consultation as needed, performing administrative tasks associated with the provision of dental care, participating in quality improvement activities. The Dentist is expected to work hours assigned by RHCC. Dental providers are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training and approved privileges. The Dentist is responsible for providing quality dental care in accordance with RHCC’s policy and procedures and guidelines set forth by the NC Dental Board and other regulatory entities. The Dentist will forward any and all funds received from patients, Medicaid, Medicare, and all other sources for services while in the employment of the RHCC. Malpractice insurance will be provided by the Federal Tort Claims Act.
The Dentist performs the usual and customary procedures of a licensed Dentist while promoting a safe environment with minimal stress. In addition to oral procedures, he/she must maintain an aseptic work area, be organized and self-motivated, coordinate patient flow with front and back offices, educate staff on oral health and other related issues whenever possible.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist RHCC in maintaining a daily productivity goal as designated by the President/CEO.
2. Ensure quality patient care per Joint Commission, Bureau of Primary Health Care, and RHCC standards.
3. Perform other necessary duties as required by the Robeson Health Care Corporation to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
4. Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment
5. Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services
6. Analyze or evaluate dental needs to determine changes or trends in patterns of dental disease
7. Formulate plan of treatment for patients’ teeth and mouth tissue
8. Advise and instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services
9. Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during dental procedures
10. Perform oral or periodontal surgical procedures using surgical instruments
11. Remove diseased dental/oral tissue using surgical instruments
12. Fill removed dental tissue with appropriate materials (e.g., amalgam/porcelain fillings)
13. Eliminate irritating margins of fillings and correct obstructions using dental instruments
14. Treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping, removal of pulp from pulp chamber or root canal
15. Fill pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials
16. Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications
17. Write fabrication instructions or prescriptions for dental prosthetics or appliances, such as bridges and dentures
18. Fit dental prosthetics/ appliances
19. Use air turbine and hand instruments, dental appliances and surgical implements
20. Provide clinical supervision to the Registered Dental Hygienists.
21. Provide after-hours telephone coverage on a rotating basis.
22. Participate in quality improvement activities, including development of clinical forms and protocols and attendance at quality assurance/quality improvement meetings.
23. Occasionally, other appropriate duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATION:
1. Doctoral degree in dental surgery (DDS) or dental medicine (DMD)
2. Current North Carolina Dental License.
3. Current North Carolina Privilege License.
4. A valid DEA Registration Number.
5. CPR certification.
6. Fifteen (15) hours of continuing education credit per year.
7. Exceptional human relations skills.
8. Ability to work with people of all ages.
9. Ability to handle conflict and get along with people.
10. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, even under stress.
11. Ability to work with interruptions and manage multiple priorities.
12. Ability to speak, understand, and write grammatically correct English.
13. Ability to write legibly and clearly.
14. Ability to complete tasks within the required time frame.
15. View patients’ comfort as a top priority.
16. Ability to satisfactorily perform essential duties.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $232,000.00 per year
