Part-Time GEAR UP Utah College Access Advisor
Partnership with USU Teacher Education and Leadership Department and Cache County School District.
Location: Mountain Crest High School
Salary: $13-14 per hour
Position Closes: Until filled Position Start Date: Immediately
Hours: 20-24 hours per week during school hours following the yearly school calendar.
(August-June)
Position Descriptions:
- Be visible in the school of assignment.
- Assist in; one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, career exploration, helping school counselors, and FAFSA and Scholarship applications.
- Documenting information; sensitive information, student meetings, and statewide data.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Associates Degree or Current Student
- MUST be proficient in Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
- Someone who has been in GEAR UP
- Spanish-speaking
- Experience working with secondary students in an academic setting and/or experience providing mentoring/advising services
ACA Variable Hours.
US Work Authorization is required.
Criminal Background check is required as a condition of employment (*cost will be covered when hired).
About GEAR UP:
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded grant program. Its goal is to increase college awareness for low-income students and their families and to help students develop the skills and preparation necessary to pursue education after high school. GEAR UP works collaboratively with schools, parents and community organizations to help students build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to prepare for college. GEAR UP provides staff and funding resources in a comprehensive program that:
- Helps students with academic, social and life skills
- Reaches out to parents with college knowledge and awareness information
- Builds relationships with families and students.
Note: Employment is grant-funded and may end at any time.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
