The Gaston Together Healthcare Commission (GTHC) is an initiative of Gaston Together, a non-profit organization serving Gaston County. The Gaston Together Healthcare Commission (GTHC) works to make Gaston County healthier. The GTHC’s does this by implementing programs with the goal of creating a culture of wellness in Gaston County. These programs include the Gaston Controlled Substances Coalition (GCSC), the Healthy Gaston Initiative, and the Health in All Policies work team
Administrative:
- Create, manage, and advocate for GTHC programs & initiatives
- Provide complex administrative and operational support with minimal supervision
- Track expenditures for program, monitor day-to-day operating expenses and vendor invoices, and report for reconciliation
- Assist the Executive Director with developing, implementing, and evaluating program policies, procedures, and standards
- Assist the Executive Director with monitoring the program budget and funders
Coalition Management:
- Manage GTHC committees & subcommittees
- Coordinate and monitor member outreach and retention
- Work with diverse groups including, but not limited to, nonprofits, faith organizations, and government
Events & Communications:
- Participate in and represent GT & GTHC in local partner meetings and events
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor speaker series, medication takeback events, and other events
- Compose and draft documents and correspondence for presentations, conferences, seminars, and reports; create, maintain, modify, and ensure accuracy of content
- Contribute ideas & content for newsletters and social media postings. Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement & Programs Manager to create and distribute content
- Plan and facilitate meetings
Other:
- Organizing and facilitating meetings
- Writing grant proposals, reports, and minutes
- Conduct basic statistical analyses
- Create and distribute surveys
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Gaston Together that relate to GTHC, GCSC & HiAP
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- A bachelor’s degree in a human services discipline – education, public health, sociology, social work.
- Or, lived experience and/ or professional experience in place of a bachelor's degree
- Event planning and administrative experience
- Working with diverse groups
- Managing concurrent projects
- Public Speaking
Understanding of, or willingness to learn about:
- The history of opioid use disorder
- The dynamics of Opioid Settlement Funding
- opioid use disorder
- Using the Social Determinants of Health to develop and conduct programs using evidence-based health equity practices to develop and conduct programs
Part time, 20 hours per week. Potential contract to hire.
