Salary: $24.97 - $26.22 per hour, depending on experience - Enforcement agents are given $1.00 per hour differential pay for any hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The successful candidate will conduct investigation, enforce the rules and regulations of the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, participate in observation programs and will work to protect the safety and welfare of the public and industry. Successful candidate must live within 20-30 miles of Deadwood.
This position is designated as a Class B member by the South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS).
Licenses and Certifications:
Successful candidate must possess a South Dakota Law Enforcement Certification or have the ability to obtain within 1 year.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment.

- the gaming industry;

- law enforcement.

- conduct fact-finding background and criminal investigations;
- analyze gathered information, prepare detailed reports and present information;
- use computer and software associated with position;
- organizational and time management skills;
- effective interpersonal skills;
- provide professional customer service;
- resolve gaming disputes;
- inspect gaming devices;
- monitor casino for violations;
- resolve citizens’ complaints;
- investigate violations of state statute.
Ability to:
- understand, interpret state law, rules and regulations as they apply to gaming activities;
- communicate clearly and concisely;
- gather, organize and present information effectively and in a logical sequence;
- establish and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, other agencies and the public;
- work weekends and non-standard work hours in a rotating schedule;
- meet deadlines, think critically and solve problems;
- become South Dakota Law Enforcement certified within the first year of employment.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
