Lewis Physical Medicine Associates is a private medical office practicing the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation on an outpatient level.

Job Summary:
The position is a member of the health care team who functions in a dual role, providing administrative as well as clinical support to ensure quality care to patients and the smooth day-to-day operation of the physician practice. Duties will include, but are not limited to, Medical Assistant and Medical Office Assistant duties. Our practice is often busy and fast paced. Multi-tasking is a must. We promote the ability to maintain good communications; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, physicians, patients, families, and the public.

Responsibilities:
Medical Assistant Functions:

  • Takes vital signs.
  • Prepares the patient and equipment.
  • Chaperones patients as needed.
  • Reports significant observations and patient problems to appropriate care givers.
  • Cleans patient rooms and equipment.
  • Provides and maintains supplies, equipment, and linen for clinical areas.
  • Enters patient’s medical history and medications into EHR computer system.

Medical Office Assistant Functions:

  • Answers, triages, and routes telephone calls appropriately; takes messages, follows through with each message, ensuring that the appropriate physician/staff member received the information. Provides routine information to callers.
  • Prepares the daily schedules for the office, prepares the patient charts, ensuring that the proper forms have been selected and attached to the chart (i.e., encounter form, etc.)
  • Schedules patients' appointments (in person and over the phone) and appropriate testing for patients as directed.
  • Verifies and enters information including demographic and health insurance information.
  • Verifies health insurance benefits with insurance companies, either online or over the phone.
  • Ensures that insurance referrals are received.
  • Provides administrative support for physician. Prepares correspondence, forms and other documents as requested.
  • Organizes and updates files, charts, and records.
  • Assist in ordering and stocking supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Education from approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • The ability to perform Medical Office Assistant duties
  • Experience with electronic medical record strongly preferred (Kareo and/or Greenway/Intergy is a plus)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
