Fuel Dist System Mechanic
Summary/General Description of Responsibilities:
- The incumbent performs inspections, maintenance and repairs on fuel storage and fuel distribution systems on Tinker AFB.
- Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identifies and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Inspects fuel receiving, storage and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges such as distribution lines, float gauges, piping valves, pumps and roof sumps.
- Lubricates and repacks valves.
- Lubricates pumps, replaces gaskets and seals and corrects pumping equipment misalignment.
- Cleans strainers, filters, and checks meters for correct delivery and calibration.
- Overhauls system components such as pressure regulating valves and excess valves.
- Disassembles, adjusts, aligns and calibrates gauges and meters or replaces them.
- Remove and installs equipment such as filters and piping to modify system or repair and replace system component.
- Cleans fuel tanks and distribution lines.
- Removes corrosion and repaints surfaces and daily (UFC 460 Directive) inspections to CNG unit (natural gas dispenser). Overhauls vacuum and pressure vents, floating roof seals, hangers and roof sumps.
- Responsibility for maintaining electrical/electronic fuels systems and components (JP-8, gasoline and diesel).
- Responsible for enhancing technical knowledge for maintaining fuel systems upgrade as required by Air Force Regulations and Alutiiq LLC standards.
- Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions.
- Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance and repair information, to include work performed, materials used and hours worked on each assigned work order.
- Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
- Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
- Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
- Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
- Incumbent will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Accurate, timely, and cost effective performance of duties.
- Working harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of all Alutiiq LLC related matters.
- Accountable for assigned tools, materials and equipment.
- Cleanliness and safety of shop and work areas.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST) and Underground Storage Tanks (UST), manual valves, automatic valves, pumps and Type 3 Constant Pressure Systems.
- Current state driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
- Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
- Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards.
- Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated working ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Preferred:
- Five (5) years’ experience in Liquid Fuel Maintenance (LFM).
- Experience in Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST) and Underground Storage Tanks(UST), manual valves, automatic valves, pumps and Type 3 Constant Pressure Systems.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Military experience.
- Previous experience working on a military installation.
- Experience working on Tinker facilities.
This position may currently and/or in the future be required to obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract. Position requires pre-employment physical and drug screening.
