Mold Maker
Dispenses sand into pattern then removes formed mold from pattern and places it on a portable conveyor. After approximately 70 molds are made the employee and a co-worker move the portable conveyor to the set-up area.
Essential functions of the job: Must be able to lift molds weighing as much as 50# (average weight is approximately 15#) 600 to 180 times a day. Must be able to manually move a portable conveyor weighing as much as 2500# (along with a co-worker) 5 to 8 times a day. Must be able to sweep and scoop up sand on a continual basis when not making molds. Must be able to trundle wheelbarrow loaded with sand weighing approximately 400# to one of three wheelabrators located 60 to 80 feet away. Must be able to work in extreme heat in the summer and cold conditions in the winter. Must be able to climb a ladder during clean-up operations of the sand augers located overhead.
This is manual work requiring frequent bending, stooping, standing, sweeping, shoveling and walking.
Set-up
Retrieves molds from portable conveyor with overhead pneumatic hoist and places them onto the pour line conveyor. Dispenses glue onto pour cups using glue gun then places the cups onto the molds. Molds are then manually moved down the pour line conveyor with a push bar (from a standing position) then readied for the pouring of molten metal.
Essential functions of the job: Must be able to manually push several molds weighing 10 to 50# with a push bar. The manual work requirements and climate described in the mold-making department apply here as well. In addition this job requires frequent squatting.
Pour Line
Places recycled metal parts, ingots and zinc balls into a crucible. The metal is heated until it reaches a molten state (approximately 2000 degrees). Employee then must manually pull the crucible down the pour line via an overhead hoist then dispense the metal into the molds.
Essential functions of the job: Must be able to manually move a crucible of molten metal weighing approximately 250# up and down the pour line 25 to 30 times a day. Must be able to pour approximately 250 to 300 castings a day. Must be able to push several castings weighing between 10 and 50 # up an inclined conveyor (approximately a 2 degree incline) 25 to 30 times a day. The manual work requirements and climate described in the mold-making department apply here as well. The pour line worker is required to wear extra protective clothing (leggings, hard-hat with face shield, apron, toe-guards and leather gloves) while performing this task making this particular job even hotter, especially in the summer months.
Wheelabrator Operator
Pushes castings into the wheelabrator bucket then activates bucket controls, dumping the castings into the wheelabrator. Castings are then removed from the wheelabrator (automated); operator then manually separates the castings from the runners using a 4# mallet.
Essential functions of the job: Must be able to remove castings from approximately 600 to 900 runners a day weighing between 1 and 30#. Must be able to push several poured molds weighing between 20 and 80# up an inclined conveyor (approximately a 2 degree incline) 25 to 30 times a day. Must be able to shovel sand from a wheelbarrow into the wheelabrator bucket. The manual work requirements and climate described in the mold-making department apply here as well.
This is manual work requiring frequent bending and constant standing as well as sweeping, shoveling and walking.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
